All good lesson plans start with the learning outcomes and I believe it is important to ground these by using the Blooms Taxonomy framework. Once this has been achieved then we can consider where a tech tool might enhance the learning experience for the students.

I came across this first visual here and it makes a lot of sense to me; using visuals and asking students to actually "do" helps to break down a lot of abstract and complex ideas in the curriculum.

Designing learning experiences is about the interplay between content, instruction, formative assessment and always remembering to keep the learner at the heart of it all. Working with a colleague we constructed this learning map with guiding questions to support lesson planning that was consistent with the aims of high impact instruction; thinking about the tech integration happens once the learning outcomes are clear in order to ensure that the tool / app will really be used to support, challenge or extend the learning experience.
